Launched at Lover's Pt about 7am (had considered, but drove past Moss, but I'd had enuf paddling the other day, and besides, they are way deep- Bay, did hurt to read today's Moss report.) Paul and Erin were unloading when I got there.  Went up to Pat's spot, but I couldn't really find any patches of sand, looking for butts.  Went way outside and got a Moochbutt.  Tried to stay away from rockfish, but still caught two.  Stayed out til 1:00 because it was pretty calm, tho it started raining at about 11. Before that it was fairly warm.   A diver said the water was surging on the bottom and not clear.  Paul and Erin came in  maybe at 10:30 with nothing that I know of.

I dove del monte with granitedive and one of his buddies.  I saw one halibut shaped indentation in the sand, which may have just been random.  But other than that it doesn't seem like they're about.   I switched buddies between the two dives, but on each dive the solo guy got into some rockfish.  Final score was 8 or 10 rockies, but none for me.  Rich game me a couple as a consolation prize though.  :smt006  Del monte beach is pretty cool because it's got free parking, that's a rarity for monterey.  The launch/landing was a little better than linda mar, but we didn't fare so well with 100lbs of gear on the yaks.  I was the only one that didn't take a tumble, but I came very close at one point.

I did find an 18" section of whale bone, probably a rib.  That was kind of neat.  I put it in the lineup with my empty ab shells.  That might have been violating the MMPA, but... :moon

Cool on the whale rib, Josh.

Where do you park free for Del Monte......the street?  The lot has become quite pricey.

Heh Tom, wanna try Moss on Wednesday?

Yeah, nothing to speak of for Aaron and I.  We headed in about 11:00.  We moved in shallower to about 40' and gave that a shot.  Caught a ling...right around keeper size.  Marked a ton a baitfish.  Think I'll try somewhere else next time.  Just biding my time till the Limekiln trip and July 1st.

Jim and I went out from MBK this morning.  we trolled in about 180 ft water for salmon moving towards the soldiers club.  Took us about two hours and we got just past the hotel before we turned around.  We didn't have any luck, but it was a nice paddle.  we ended up floating back to MBK in about 60 ft of water looking for halibut.  No halibut, but we caught some rock fish,  two nice reds.  It is hard not to catch those fish when your trying for something else.

It's way cool that we had so many groups of folks out today.............too bad we aren't having more of an impact on the salmon!............ :smt043

hey pat,

when i go looking to spear halibut i would park towards gunter madsen autobody where the laundromat used to be. a little cul de sac ending at the condos. there you can wheel tha kayak to the water down the little sand path. free parking but get there early as people will start cramming the spaces later in the mornings.

There was street parking, as well as a little lot with a handicapped spot and 3 or 4 regular spots right at the edge of the beach.  The little lot hardly filled up, let alone the street.  Granted it could be alot worse in the summer when there are more surfers and beach goers about.

Yeah, I've used that cul de sac, John.  I'd forgotten about it.

I'm not picturing the lot you are referring to ps.  I'll keep my eyes open.
