My wife and I are going up to Fort Ross next Saturday.  No fishing, no yak, just a trip to the Fort.  What's the best place in the area for lunch?  I'm OK going a little north or anywhere south of the Fort on the way home would be OK.  It doesn't have to be elegant but someplace with a nice view and good food would be best.

Thanks,
Martin

Its been quite a few years but my wife and I stayed at the Timber Cove inn  and ate a couple times at the restaurant there.   I remember it being pretty good.    Not sure if its run by the same people anymore though.. thats the only place I ve been up in that area.    Unless you count either the timber cove store or the store in jenner where I stop for ice and JUNK FOOD for the ride home..  :smt044
Here is a link to the restaurant and their menus..   the place is just around the bend north of where we launch at TC.

We also like going to The Tides in bodega bay..  Its a ways south of the fort tho.   I usually get the chowder / salad combo there called the whale watcher..

Another place we go thats less formal is at lucas warf in bodega bay there is a little deli where they have decent fish and chips and other things..   same parking area as lucas warf but just past the restaurant there.

dont forget to stop for salt water taffy!   :smt003  my daughter makes us stop there..

Here is an option for you. Just  a little further north of the fort, about 10 minutes away.

The restaurant used to be open at Salt Point Lodge. It was great and if you sat at the bar you looked over Ocean Cove. Us? We always stop at the Jenner store for the hot dog special. 2.29 for a 16oz soda and a dog. We are cheap fuckers. :smt003 Rivers End is supposed to be good. At Jenner.

if you like GOOD chowder and the crab cakes are excellent but pricey, me and the rest of the wild dogs, err hogs, swear by spud point fish co. across from spud point marina at Bodega Bay and they dont mind the motorcycles lined up in front... outside seating or go on up to the head and watch for whales as you eat  my second choice is the mexican place just as you enter groinville from the west, b4and across from safeway...then theres occidental....

Sandpiper in Bodega Bay. They used to be down by the harbor. Now they are up by the Pelican Plaza ( I think tha's what it is called).
Never been to the new location but the old one had great food.

Had lunch at the Timber Cove Inn last month, in that immediate area it's the only game in town till you either get to Gualala to the north or Jenner to the south. I hate recommending places so I'll say I liked it and would go back.  Years ago Salt Pt Lodge restaurant was really good but they ran downhill all the way to the bottom,

Yes the Sandpiper is good. Real good. The chowder is the best. Eat 2 viking bowls and get a free t shirt. Also if you sign up for the birthday list you get a free meal on your birthday. Also you can collect pounts for  money spent and trade points for Sandpiper goodies like mugs and hats. Mickfish's friend owns it and they have a sister restaurant in Guerneville called the River inn cafe. Pelican Plaza. Right across rom Candy and Kites.

The sizzling tandoor is awesome indian food. Fresh made naan bread with killer dipping sauces. Excellent tikka masala. I don't reccomend the tandoori chicken.

Excellent tikka masala.

The plan is to be buried in it.....At least once before I die.
