Went out to Folsom today to try out something I have been working on. Needs some fine tuning, but the idea worked out OK. I was expecting nasty weather, and since I had only one thing in mind I left the fishing gear at home. Well the weather was PERFECT! Zero wind, slight overcast. I am sure the 38 sail boats in the sailing regatta weren't too happy, but I was.
I paddled to an island that a lot of Canadian Honkers use as a nesting ground. As I got next to shore I saw eggs in about 2 feet of water. Eight of them. With all the excess rain the water has risen quite a bit in a very short amount of time. As I paddled around the small island I noticed more and more eggs under water. I counted a total of 31 eggs, and I could see no more than 3 feet down.
I talked to a PB'er and he said he saw some under water closer to shore in another spot.
Seems all this rain has screwed up more than just the fishing.

Well, the good thing is that most of them will lay again. They usually do when a nest is lost.
