Both are incredible paddles, I have used both styles for years. My 2 cents are the Shuna FG is light weight and tough as nails. If you are using it to launch, dry off rocks, trim branches, etc, there is a great choice. The cyprus is stupid light and smooth like butter in the water. It also has a lot of buoyancy in the blade due to the foam core. The best part about the blade shape is how it slices through the water because of the smooth backside. The cyprus is more fragile and if your not doing fancy strokes the Shuna probably offers more band for the buck. If you got the extra money to spend than the cyprus is a killer paddle. I personally have switched over to Saltwood paddles. They offer the same buoyant blade, and the smooth feel of the cyprus, the the bomber durabilty of the Shuna, and with a wood shaft you also get the natural flex of wood which really apeals to me. So far the Salt Wood Reggie is the best paddle I can find on the market. The downside is it only comes in single piece. They will make paddles in any length requested as well.

Good choice. Your smart for testing before you buy. I forgot to say that, but that is always the best way to make sure your getting the right stuff for you. Enjoy!
