Slider Review

This review is way over due .

Months ago Patrick Price@YakDaddy was kind enough to send me the Deluxe Slider to try out. I was skeptical as I like to keep it simple and the slider is pretty big. When I opened the package I was amazed at the craftsmanship and design that was put in to it and couldn’t wait to put it on my X-Factor and take it out trolling on the lake.  I was bummed when I tried to mount it and it didn’t fit. So I took some pictures and measurements and shot them to Pat he immediately got back to me and said that some mounts that he was working on would be coming in the mail soon.

As I was laying out the mounts he shot me a message saying that he was working on something better and I should wait before drilling any holes. Well after receiving the newer mounts. I used a combo of the two mounts and I got it mounted I only had to drill two small holes as I was able to utilize two of the rivet holes for my hatch for the rear mount. Now mounted I can have my rods almost in my lap then slide them out and they are totally out of the way for paddling ,with the mounts that Pat designed I can still access both hatches but the front one is pretty tough OTW . With the Slider also came a Flambeau Tackle Box that fits perfect in the Slider and two complete Ramm Rodholders.

I haven’t been fishing much but I have logged three trips with it Clear Lake Derby, Lake Sonoma  and Collins Lake and I have to say it works great. I really like having everything in one place and don’t have to open my hatches at all. My first thought  was this baby will never see salt H2O but after using it I will take it Halibut or Salmon fishing as long as I don’t have a Beach launch. I was going to mount my FF on it but I moved it to the side and like it better there anyway and don’t really want a long transducer wire sliding back and forth( Why don’t they make Bluetooth Transducers). I am working on a Vanity Mount, cup holder and pliers/knife holder for it. It looks pretty big sitting on the Kayak but the footprint is actually pretty small for all you have on it. I know it's not for every kayak or person but for someone who spends a lot of time trolling with two rods it works really well.  I really like when you hook a fish you can slide it back start the fight and reel in the other rod without taking it out of the holder.

Hook 1 is now stocking them or you can buy direct http://yakdaddy.net/index.html

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
