Shake down coming To that area soon DEA frowns on that sort of thing Probably about time they reined it in there. I'm of the no harm no foul thinking on growing but you can't be shooting folks walking threw the garden... Move on, replant, Tie them up Harvest and run... So many other options... Sad news all around

Lots of desperation out there right now, this in the time when folks crack. Too much time & effort put in, too much money to be made. Shooter obviously has problems and needs to be apprehended. I too foresee some fed action in that area soon.

I keep my hikes out of the deep woods until after October.

The whole illegal grow site problem is completely out of control, it's time we take back our forests!

               It's not that mellow  in Mendocino anymore like back in the Hippie Days.
My Family and I  lived in Albion for Eight Years.  I had to deal with Plinkers and  Tweekers.

Amen! I think hikers should be allowed to arm themselves when hiking in areas like this. I mean, why should we be deprived of enjoying the wilderness because of these illegal pot growers.

*I remember riding my mountain bike up the Saratoga Gap along skyline Blvd a few years back and came across a couple of "questionable folks" hiking out from a trail-less area with backpacks,machetes and wearing camo clothing. As they walked passed me and my riding buddy, they had "the smell" on 'em. Growers definitely  We warned everyone we came across that day left a note at the Stevens Creek ranger station.
