Kayak support needed for the Swim with the Centurions Sept 4, 2011
Kayaker compensation is "$60.00, food, water, pictures, and salty bay waters." Plus a good excuse to get out on the water (esp if you don't have fishing plans) and you're usually off the water by noon or 1pm.
If interested, contact Coach Jake directly at [email protected]

This is a somewhat special event since it's an opportunity for open water swimmers to swim with some members of the "Alcatraz 100 Club," people with 100 or more Alcatraz crossings under their belts . . . or Speedos . . . or wetsuits . . . or whatever...  http://waterworldswim.com/events/A100/index.html

Escorting group swims is fairly easy but there is some responsibility for swimmer safety. The main requirement is to be an experienced kayaker (not good if kayak support has to be rescued) and then just be diligent in watching swimmers.

They also need a few kayakers the previous day, Sept 3rd, for a regular Alcatraz swim and Sept 18th for the Alcatraz Classic.  Again, contact Jake at [email protected] to sign up for those, but if you have any questions about any of this stuff, feel free to ask me. I've done several of these things and some of your fellow NCKA'rs have gotten involved as well.

I would help out if I didn't already have plans to go out of town.  Please post the one and hopefully I can make it.
