While working in Novato, I spotted a case of noodles outside of the Dollar Tree.  I picked up 6.  Now I need to get back to mounting the rack on the shell.  I've been using a bed extender but I need the space in the bed.

Don't forget to stuff a grip in your hull...I bought 18 of um at a dollar store and stuffed 16 in my yak...tested it at blue lake to see if I could sink it... I've robbed a few for rod floats/net over the yrs..but knowing if you should ever take on a Lot of water that u will not go to the bottom helps when your way out and suddenly everything feels heavy...ask Jimbo "DrHabanro" bout his time at Elk!!! he did not have them and was freaking out... had a pump though... I took on a LOT of water at Albion this yr... poor old yak... :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

I have a lance camper and use the foam blocks a picked up at a yak store somewhere in sac yrs ago...I transport my yak up right all the time... never had a problem... Have fun be safe........noodles,noodles,noodles...
It's all about Today!!! Because who knows what tomorrow will bring... so Better get OTW n GetSome

My Dodge, with it's Hi-Liner camper shell, and the yakima racks is around 7 feet tall at the bars.  I have these for my OB
http://www.yakima.com/shop/water/top/gunwale-brackets-

and I transport it upside down.  I saw a video from Washington state (NWKA.com) of a guy that uses a small atv winch to haul his kayak up onto the roof of his campershell (On a toyota pickup)  I've been thinking about rigging up something simular.  Lifting my OB up (Even with a "Boat Loader" bar in the rack bar) is challenging.  (Lifting it overhead, balancing, shoving the front, up and on the a rack, then walking back under the kayak and pushing the back up and over the rack bar)  Most times I just shove it in the back and strap it in.
I think rollers may help your wife, it's something the 2 of you will have to work together to figure out what'll work for her and what she's comfortable workin with.

I try to leave a few water or Gatorade empties in the hull for additional floatation.   Plus my kayak has some foam in it already that I think is for additional floatation.

Still haven't mounted the rack on top of the shell yet.  Working out of town 5 days a week really screws up my home projects.  I think I have an idea for a loading bar set up that I'll build over the winter to try out.

How do you get it up that high?  Do you use the ladder as a guide?

Yeah I just lean it up climb up and just walk back ladder guides right on up...everyone wants to lend a hand while I'm doing it...And I say thanks just watch...the trick will be getting a revo up there...3ft longer I think it will be even easier...

Getting closer.  Found out that my rack did not fit my camper (it's from a Jeep Cherokee).  Cut it down a bit and drilled some holes.  Here are some photos.  Had an issue with some marine adhesive so my kayak is re-curing with some goop so I couldn't throw it up there to test it out yet...
