John, the way I read it is you are one righteous dude.  You took him at face value and cared for a stranger like I would a friend.  Don't know if I'd been so gracious.  So whoever he was I think he ended up richer from the experience.

Could be undercover stuff, I guess.  It seems more likely to me that he was just some dork that couldn't really dive and wanted to go out with someone who could.  Maybe he wanted you to get some abs for him - but not as a set up.  That's happened to me more than once.

Those ab watch guys and dfg are always around (especially at jughandle), so it might just be a coincidence.  It could have been either way.
