After over a year of fishing from my kayak with no fish finder I finally got one. It is a Humminbird 363 with internal GPS. I have the FF but am waiting on the scupper mounted transducer.

As I wait for the transducer I am trying to figure out how I want to install the FF on my OK T-13. The obvious solution is under the sonar shield, mounted to the vertical part near the lid hinge.

I also have new rod pod cover which I can mount it to that.

I have also seen threads where there is a Scotty mount under the sonar shield, or to the front and side of the rod pod. Then the FF is mounted to the Scotty adapter and popped into a mount.

So I figured I would see if I could gain some incite on other peoples experiences/reasons for how they did theirs.

Mounted mine under the sonar shield for a few reasons,
First - it is a good fit - nice and clean
second - when I leave my yak on the beach, I can close the lid and not have
people see it and think about borrowing it (out of site, out of mind)
Third - the shield makes a good sun block on sunny days
Fourth - in the event of a self rescue - I can close it easily for a re-entry

As for the transducer:
Opted to skip the scupper mount as it didn't allow the scupper drain as fast as I felt it should.
Also the scupper mount still left the trans slightly exposed which could cause harm to it when sliding over boilers or transporting (sliding) up the beach.
I know the internal mount leaves the temp probe a little useless but temp probe is not as important as some may think - I have done very well in the AOTY competition without it (for the amount of days I have fished) and if I needed it I could always hang a thermometer over the side :smt003
Hope this helps.

I second the comment below from yakhopper. I have included some pictures of my install and neatness of it using the solar shield area in which it is designed for. Plus when the FF in not in use, remove it and there is enough room to store a small plano or small tackle box within arms reach. It also leaves your deck clear for larger fish.

Abdiver - Under the sonar shield like in your photos is the way I was planning on doing it. I wonder what the benefit of doing it some of the other ways posted are?

Yakhopper (Eric) - The majority of my better rods are 7ft+ one piece. I do use the inside of the kayak for transporting them on the car. An in the hull transducer seems like I would loose my rod storage.

If you mount it directly under the solar shiled like mine is, ( you can kind of see it in the picture with the clear wire wrap) its not  in the way of anything. I can still get a full wheeleez beach cart upfront and rods/ tackle/dry bag in the rod pod section.

+1
My rods fit fine from the pod towards the back (up to 9') and my transducer has never been a issue.

I use the scupper transducer hole that was made for it Ryan. Its clean and out of the way. The drainage flow hasnt given me anything to grieve about in the last 3 years so just do it there I say. Having it on the floor of the kayak is in the way in my eyes. You can get a better reading of surface temp through the scupper hole also.

If your tall like me 6'2" you will have the sole of your foot over the scupper tranducer hole/wire location. That was the main reason I mounted it inside plus the American River will chew your transducer up and spit it out in some of the low flow areas.
