Hi All,

Hope you all had a great weekend!  :smt004

I looked through the threads quick and didn't see anything off hand about the food sealers I see many of you using at the events to make your fish freezer ready.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I heard the Costco one is good, any one have that one?  ...any other suggestions?  Please include general cost of your recommendation  :smt003

THANKS!  ...I am sure my monster halibut is around the corner and I need to be prepared.

We got one from Costco and it works great.

It's black is all the details I know off the top of my head!  :smt005

Will check brand/model and ask wife what price was once I get home tonight!

We actually use it very infrequently (prefer to gorge on fresh fish  :smt003), but when we do ceviche I vacuum seal and freeze for a few days before prepping.

Good luck on the Hali hunt!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

I got one from Costco when they had it on sale. It has worked great sealing my Halibut, WSB and other fish. If you go fishing often a sealer is a must have.

I have the Food Saver. I forget which model, but it's solid. You need to make sure the food isn't too damp and that the opening of the bag is mostly dry to get a good seal. Also, you can resuse the bags. Just wash them and throw them in the freezer until you need them again. Cheaper that way  :smt001
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

THANK YOU all for this feedback!  I had asked a friend to pick me up one from Costco same day I posted this, thinking $50 or so, maybe $100...it was $140!!!!  :smt010 and another $30-40 for extra bags!  :smt044  I will have her take it back and try to find one of these on Amazon or something.  $40 sounds a lot better!  THANKS AGAIN!   :smt006 :smt006 :smt006

You can also use them to pack cloths, IE socks, tee's, anything that needs to stay dry! Empty cereal from boxes into a bag and shrink it down, fire kindling?  lots of otherstuff other than just foods.
