hello everyone! i am looking for input or feedback from anyone that have or used the 2011Hobie mirage pro angler. from the little information i have seen it seems perfect for lake, especially with the e volve motor. so my question is the mirage pro also kick butt in the ocean? is it as good or better than OK T13. also is the evolve electric motor worth getting and can be used in the rough ocean water? thank you all in advance to any reply. also recomendation for test ride or sale of this boat in the bay area please

I can definatley speek for this kayak.  I do have one and I love it.  I will start off with the two draw backs of the yak.  It is very heavy for transport mainly with all your accesories attached when bring it out of the water.  The price is high as well to.  Those are the only tow draw backs to the yak.  It is the most stable platform I have used.  There are plenty of storage spaces for it.  Compared to hobie outback I used to have the pro angler carries more tackle and more fish that I catch.  The fornt insirt has been used to hold fish or my extra gear.  I have the hobie bait tank as well and will put my bait fish or mainly my rock cod in there and keep them alive.  The only draw back to the bait tank is that you have to purchase a longer tube or go to the hardware store and purchase a longer tube for your intake water.  This is an easy fisx.  The stearing is more responive then the other hobies due to it being resesed forward.  I have used my 2011 pro angler a dozen times this year all in the ocean from flat water to 6 foot swells and 10 mile an hour winds and it does what its supose to do and thats keep me on the fish when everybody is ready to come in.  I have also been dumped off my pro angler and it was very easy to get back into.  let me know if this helps you

I don't actually have one of these aircraft carriers, but I was in this situation not too long ago either, but the other half was the Revo.  I eventually went Revo, I would look around youtube for as far as having the evolve on these, there is a video there.. here's a vid for launching in the surf with these things.  I did however, get the luxury of test driving the PA though and it is boss bitchin'........ otw.  Hauling this thing is a workout especially pulling it out of the water.  Good luck.

Cute socal waves. I must be honest...I hate that thing! I don't know why. Maybe cause the seat looks so comfy, or it's the price, or cause they try to pass it off as a yak, but to hobies credit call it a boat.

Sorry for the rant.

Alot of us here usually launch out of coves should we chose to go out in the big blue, which is usually covered from wind and any kind of serious surf.  Whatever the closest big blue access is to you.. have at it.  The PA whether it's classified as a yak or boat, or etc. it still kills fish  :smt001

never had my PA in the salt and don't intend to........strictly a freshwater high Sierra water guy here.  You might contact the dealer in Livermore as I think they demo Hobies.....maybe he has a PA you could demo

Are you reffering to Sunrise Mountain Sports? I'll be heading down that way tomorrow to pick up my Revo, some cool @$$ dudes work there.  I think they're selling their PA's for $2200?? (installment payments allowed) I could be wrong, but I'll try to get some info and fill you guys in on some info with the demo's.

Yep, Sunrise Mountain Sports is the place, they rent Hobies at Del Valle, don't remember if you can rent and take the yak where ever you wanted to.
I bought my PA from them in 09 for 2k.  retail now is 2500.00 if I am not mistaken.
