I am going to be going ab diving & maybe a little fishing (rod & reel) saturday in the bodega bay/fort Ross area. What are some good spots to launch a kayak from?

I've done still water cove before which is great, and my back up, Im just looking to learn/explore the area.  Also taking the GF, shes not so much diving. but we'll be launching around 9 ish, any one that wants to join is welcome to come.

Fort Ross itself has a sandy beach to launch from. Just drive down, unload your gear, and then drive up to park. Ocean Cove and Timber Cove are other options that have launches. I like Timber Cove because the parking is close to the launch, and there's plenty of fish.

I think you could also launch at Gerstle Cove, but it's a reserve, so you can't stop/anchor when you're paddling in/out of it.

You could also launch at Bodega, but there's not a lot of ab options there. Maybe the jetty or the island, but it's pretty sharky this time of year. Better off just heading further north to Fort Ross area.

My choices are Timber, OC, stillwater and Ft Ross- in that order for ease of launch.
If GF will be waiting while u r fishing/diving, then i'd say the fort or ocean cove (more sights to take in while waiting, although Timber also has a beach area to hang out or read a book). All of the above hold fish and abs, so i don't think you'll be disappointed from exploring any of them.

I agree with John's list and order, however if the water is sketchy my experience has been that Stillwater is the most protected launch, also Timber Cove is OK for sitting on the beach but has the feel of a fish camp and the restroom is a real hike.  My GF really likes Stillwater it has a cozy beach, with a decent bathroom about 50 yds back from the beach.

These places are close together, you could check'em all out in a half hour.
