Stupid question...
After watching First Descent on the pioneering of the snowboarding movement I couldnt help but think what it would be like to take my kayak downhill in the snow.
Anyone ever try this?
Who knows, in 20 years it could become an olympic event with distance jumps, etc.....

Or am I just a little crazy from not going out lately due to the rain..'

I saw someone do this on tv once.  Turns out you can't steer the kayak in the snow with a paddle, it went out of control and ended badly.  It'd probably be okay on a little hill like kids would sled on though.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

I think it might work in powder.  Your kayak would probably track straighter and you could dig your paddle in to steer.

I was thinking of making a jump with an icy ramp and then a powder landing.

Dont want to get hurt but getting some serious air would be sweet!

Never know we could be sharing the ski lifts with the skiers and snowboarders someday!!!!!Not sure how to get the kayaks to the top yet..

Rudder might help turn, or for brakes your anchor. Helmets required...Wet suit optional, but would help when peeing pants.

Dont try this at home kids...

Here is another variation of the sport.  I don't know if you could really call this a kayak though.  I have always wanted to try to snowboard behind a truck or a quad like this.
