Yeah.... at work we have a 3D printer in one of our R&D labs for rapid prototyping.  For show and tell, they have a bike chain, crescent wrench, and one of those litte puzzles where you slide the squares around, all printed in one piece and fully functional. 

We (Medtronic) also use a 3D printer at one of our other sites where we build custom plates for repairing traumatic skull injuries.  The printer is used to make a full scale replica of the fractured skull so the doctor knows exactly how the plates and the skull will line up before ever going into surgery. 

Really game changing technology.
