DIY Webbing Bungee

I wanted to make a custom strap with internal bungee, yet could not find much help info on the internet. So I decided to make my own, after several designs this is the one I like the most, so I figured I would share it.

Tools:
Lighter
Scissors
Sewing Awl
Hawg Ring Pliers (normal pliers can work)

Supplies:
1 1” Tubular Webbing
1 1/4” Bungee Cord
2 1/2” Flat Webbing
2 1/4” Stainless Steel Hog Rings
2 Attachment Clips

The tubular webbing needs to be between 25-50% longer then the bungee cord. Plus the length of making loops around the clips.

The flat webbing needs to be able to wrap around the clips plus 1/2” .

Get your supplies and tools together.
1.Crimp the flat webbing to the bungee cord.
2.Insert the bungee into the tubular webbing (if doing a long section use some fishing line to pull it through).
3.Make the flat and tubular webbing flush on one end.
4.Heat that end with a lighter and press it together. It should seal and look clean.
5.Put a clip on fold over the webbing and sew the loop closed (the end of the webbing should butt up against the bungee) .
6.Pull the rest of the bungee through the tubing.
7.Repeat 3-5

Well done - looks pro. What are you gonna use it for?

Its for my dive stringer. I have an attachment point near my seat for the brass end and a bungee button to loop the end of the stringer on, the bungee keeps it taught and out of the way when not in use, yet easily accessible. The top picture is the old way I had it.
