I've narrowed down my fishing kayak search to the OK Trident/prowler. As soon as my touring yak is sold, I'm pulling the trigger. I plan on fishing mostly in coastal waters north of San Francisco and I go to Tahoe once a year for trout. I'm about 200lbs (it fluctuates a great deal)...I see a lot of Prowlers out and about. What size OK's (or others) do most of you all paddle in coastal waters?? Anyone interested in a Seda Ikkuma 17?

I've used my T-13 from the Lost Coast to Baja and it has been great. It's been good in snotty seas. The T-15 is faster though if that matters.

T13....I am 6'3" 200lbs and I fit just fine...And I like to be counter Aaron! 15 is faster for sure. but all around 13 lakes, rivers, bay and big blue.

I have a T13 and 15.  At 240, I put a lot of water in the footwells of the 13, none in the 15.  15 is faster, but heavier.  I don't think either is a bad choice.  I do recommend a rudder.

See how you are?  :smt064

13 is noticeably more maneuverable, 15 is a little faster. I like the extra bit of boat with the 15 when the salt gets a little rough.

If true, T13 has amazing carrying capacity b/c Eric fishes with 200+ lbs of gear

I agree.  13 will do just fine but the 15 is better for ocean.  And, get a rudder if you buy the 15.

Good luck!

6'3" and 225# and I chose the T13.  I had both T13 and T15 for awhile but settled on the maneuverability and less windcocking.  The T13 isn't really that noticeably slower.

What! I don't even have a crate or plano box! All my tackle fits in the the hobie hatch bucket. Just seems heavy when you weight 135lbs! Now go put on some size 6 shoes and a youth medium tshirt and shut it!

Did I start something? Not bad, my first post on this forum :smt003

The Trident 13 looks like the one. I suppose a rudder comes in handy while fishing in the wind or paddling down wind. There isn't a retractable skeg is there?

The Malibu Stealth 14 is intriguing, but it has too many places to put things and that may drive me mad.

Here's another question. Can you lock the rudder in any position while paddling? Does it flip up out of the water when you don't need it?

No retractable skeg.  The rudder is retractable.
