Took the whole family out to the pier at San Simeon and caught a really nice Starry Flounder (22", 6 lbs.).  Caught him in the surf on a 10' Ugly Stik Custom, Shimano Baitrunner and an anchovy.  Great time, but I could've asked for better weather (yes, I'm complaining even though I caught a decent fish).

Nice!  Biggest one I've seen yet.  Thx for sharing.  What else can you catch off the surf there?  Stripers? Kingfish? perch?

That is a sick flounder.  Were you targeting perch?  Willing to share your tackle secrets?  I'm sure they will move into Tomales and Bodega bays.
Congrats!

Thanks for all the responses.  To be honest with you all, this was my very first attempt at surf fishing.  I started out by targeting the perch, but they weren't biting at all.  I was running #6 octopus hooks with plastic grubs baited with bits of squid above a 3 oz weight.  I tried that from outside of the pier all the way into the rocks south of the pier.  I switched from that to a carolina rig with a whole anchovy hooked through the nose  hoping to find some sort of flatfish (with halibut in mind).  The first cast with that rig caught the fish pictured.
