It's a milestone that every single kid goes through, but that didn't make it any less exciting. I wondered how it would happen, and if I would be there since I'm frequently gone on business trips, but not only were my wife and I both there, but somehow I'd turned the camera on and was recording! Talk about dumb luck!

Enjoy! that is pretty cute! Now you will learn the time honored saying " you spend the first two years teaching them to walk and talk and the next 18 telling them to shut-up and sit-down! Just funnin with ya! Have fun.

How lucky that you're able to capture your baby first steps!  Thanks for sharing your wonderful moment with us Peter.

Thanks guys!

Being an "older first-time parent", I experienced first steps many times with many of my friends' kids, and although I was always happy for them, I guess I never really "got it" until now.

I've read with interest other threads on this forum regarding kid's achievements and am always psyched for the father (mother) and wonder about the future and how that will all play out for my little Rika.

It *was* super lucky to have gotten those real first steps recorded, and one of my first instincts was to share it here. Says loads about the tight community we've got I guess (not to mention the compassionate thread regarding fishing the SMC).

On a lighter note, I hope that she doesn't grow up to be like this! (and if she does, I hope she doesn't end up on YouTube!!)

Classic, congrats man!  First thing I got rid of when my boys became mobile was the coffee table, it's like a homing beacon for a kids forehead!

Outstanding!

My son is just under 14 months, and I spend a good amount of time every afternoon now letting him do his new favorite thing - walking up and down the stairs by himself.

Kids are funny. Walking up and down the stairs NEVER gets old for him...and he must burn hundreds of calories doing it...lol.
