So last year I traded some foul wx gear with Art for a gun....It's been collecting dust. So in a fit of inspiration I gave it a personal touch! Now I just need to order some new bands. Looks like Mako sells just want I need.

Making bands is very easy. PM me if you want some help. I can make you a band for the cost of shipping if I have enough tubing.

Your muzzle looks like it is made for European screw in bands and the regular bands. post some closeups of the muzzle. If the circle on the end will hold bands then you won't need screw in bands. If you need the screw in bands then you should order the adapters from Mako. Call me if you want. I'll pm my number.

Its a funky euro closed muzzle, the screw ins from mako look cool but I think you can reuse the hardware that was already on there....have you tried taking it apart yet?

If you want to pick up the new band rubber (pretty sure it was 14mm) and some spectra wishbones (possibly the screw ins) from Mako I can cruise by and tie them up for you.

I've got a Cressi Apache 90 that is almost identical in its configuration: Euro closed muzzle, screw in bands, circle in the front.

My question is: what is that circle in the front for?

For that muzzle the screw ins line up perfectly with the shaft, the couple times I used it shot perfectly straight.  The other circle is for an extra band to double up power, or run a larger diameter band than won't fit in the screw in. Never used it.

That gun looks familiar!   :smt003

Some of this is already covered, but figure I'll go through everything...

The stock bands for that particular line are 16mm.  No... it's not worth trying to make your own screw-in bands.  I've done it.  Won't ever bother again.   :smt011

The best 2 options are to just buy new screw-ins... or the Mako replacement.  I have a pair of short bands in my garage that will fit this gun.  Shoot me a PM & you're welcome to em.  The Mako replacement is a decent alternative, but you'd need to create another wishbone setup to be compatible.

You can use the hole in the muzzle to tie-in circular bands like Amphibian recommended... but generally not a good idea with this style of gun.  Traditional euro guns like these use screw-in bands to keep the power inline with the shaft.  Using the front band hole creates a downwards force vector that pulls down on the back of the shaft.  This causes some odd flexing, shaft-whip, etc... though this gun is so short (60cm barrel), that it's not a huge problem & do-able if you want a quick/cheap fix.  On railguns like Mako & Rob Allens, the shaft is fully supported, so the downwards force is a moot point.

Okbook, that front hole is generally used for an optional second band.  The only time I've used that second hole on a euro was for halibut... looking for some extra punch through fish & sand, where accuracy is negligible since it's a point blank shot.  If you look at all the new euro guns with open muzzles (bands not in-line like screw-ins), they all have some rail or support system.  Good examples are the Sporasub ONE line, Omer Cayman series, etc.

Another random use for the extra muzzle hole - I used to hang a hoochie & kastmaster from it.  Worked great in bringing curious fish in.  One day while diving in dirty water, an overzealous lingcod hit the teaser at mach5, twisting gun out of my hand... and scaring the crap out of me.  I took it off & never bothered putting it back on.    :smt005

How many hands has it passed through....I got it from Stu, who I figured got it from you, it has the name Bickel carved in it, Nelson used it for a month or two, then I traded it to Eric.......who let it sit in the corner of a garage for over a year.  :smt002
