I got the cough that lasted for 3+ months in mid-January.

sounds like whooping cough.  I caught it during the Santa Cruz epidemic and coughed for months.  The silver lining was that all the coughing amounted to a decent ab workout for me.   

Just got back from Denver last week where I contracted my one and only cold of the year so far.  Maybe just horrible allergies.  Denver conditions consisted of: a) 40-50 mph winds kicking up particulates, b) plants in bloom; and c) Joe Biden staying in same hotel.  Well documented that all three are potent insults to the immune system.
