For Albion I took bought some great Applewood smoked breakfast sasauge for breakfast burritos from Whole Foods. Tasted great in the burritos. Since I didn't have any fish to ice down on the way home, I didn't refill on ice. Got home super late at night and just went to sleep. The next morning I unpacked my ice chest. Everything felt cold and there was still plenty of ice. I froze the left over bacon and sasauge for future use.

This last Sunday I defrosted and fried the bacon and sausage and made more yummy breakfast burrittos. Stephanie doesn't like breakfast sausage so I made her's with out.

Monday morning my stomach was a little off when I got up. Went to work. I started to make frequent trips to the bathroom and finally opted to go home. Over the next 48 hours I emptied everything from my body. I lost a lot of fluid and couldn't keep anything down in that time. On day three I started keeping gatoraide and some chicken broth down. After 3.5 days out of work and 12lbs lighter, I'm feeling much better and eating lightly.

Moral of the story for me is to sanitize my ice chest to prevent possbile contamination from ice water and its better to chuck it rather than upchuck it later. Funny part of the story is Jonesz had told me a story at Albion about a time he got food poisoning and how horrible it was.

bummer brian, btdt, hopefully it never happens again, but if it does, you should go with pedi-a-lite, rather than gatorade, especially when you are that dehydrated, at least thats what ive been told by doctors after a few set backs with my addiction to street food in third world countries in the middle of the night with local liquor goggles, :smt003, cameron

Yeah, I shouldn't make light of the situation considering somebody died of salmonella here in Cali due to bad ground turkey.

Ugh, that sucks Brian!!!  :smt009  Think we had a minor run in with some bacteria this week too!  Sara got really sick one night this week after she had made spagetti and meat balls using ground turkey.  Next day we hear on the radio, huge ground turkey recall  :smt011  Everythign was cooked through, but who knows if we cross contaminated something while prepping.   :smt012

There is nothing more natural and organic than salmonella.  Preservatives are good for somethings.

I was victimized during the egg recall, it wasn't fun but i made it out OK

Our firm rep's a lot of producers, including in recall actions like the above, however we aren't on that case.

Healthy young bux like Brian who are not generally immunocompromised tend to make it out alright.  From what I've seen its kids, the already sick, and the elderly who take it in the shorts.  Unfortunately, those often tend to be the groups who attempt to stretch their food dollar or are not sufficiently informed re FBI risk.

Now, i'm crazy paranoid so if there's a remote chance of FBI, I'll just go hungry rather than risk it.  But maybe that's just me and my sensitive stomach.  Hell, even eating at completely sterile environments like Hokkaido will give me the squirts
