I drive a small 4 cylinder Ranger and I have pretty much the best theft deterrent around. My truck looks like #$%&! It is primer black, has no front bumper and general looks like it was rolled down a hill. When I met my parents in SF for their vacation I actually had the unfortunate pleasure of coming across two guys walking down the street at 3 am jacking stuff out of cars. I followed them at a distance while on the phone with the police and as they walked past my truck one of them said and I quote, "It looks like somebody beat us to this one, and kicked the #$%& out of it just to be nice."

The funny thing is my truck is an '04 model with just at 100k miles on the clock... It's practically brand new, it just looks rough.

They jumped in a car at the end of the block and I only got a partial tag, but a cop showed up about a minute later and after speaking briefly with me took off I assume to go after them. I never heard anything about it even though I did give them all of my contact info. I hope they got them!
