I'll check back this evening to see how Erik did at Black Point today.

I'm still planning on Rat Rock, though, with a 8:00 or 9:00AM launch.

Black Point would be a fight against the current/tide both ways.

Maybe Erik can elude to how tough the paddle was?

Anyway - I'm out of here in a bit to go pump some shrimp!

No go today at Black Point.  I got down there at about 6:15 AM and it was fogged in pretty heavy with a pretty good wind going opposite the current.  I looked at my thermometer and it was 35 degrees... and with the tide already moving in I decided that maybe I'd better work on the Honey-do list today instead.

I'm at home now and it's clear and sunny... might well have been a fishable day out there, but it was looking pretty ugly this morning.

To fish that area from kayak, it's best to go out at Low tide and fish the incoming tide and paddle back before the outgo gets too strong.  That area would be my best bet for a sturgeon this time of year, but you need to hit the tides right.

The Shell Bank area is still probably the best bet to fish a big outgo IMO.

Well I just pumped a little less than 3 dozen plump little ghosties, so I'm fishing somewhere tomorrow!

Ugly weather is rolling in right now, but unless it's pouring when I wake up I still plan on going.

Worst case is I end up fishing from shore somewhere.

Save for a total downpour, I'm heading to Bullhead Flats between 8:00 and 9:00AM. If the weather conditions suck there I'll probably try and wait it out for awhile. If the water conditions suck then I was thinking I could always give the Petaluma River a shot since I have to drive by there on my way home anyway. Launch at the hotel at Lakeview (the Sheraton?) and fish right around the bridge. Hell, if it starts raining there maybe I could get under the bridge and stay somewhat dry. I've had good luck with stripers right there, but I've never fished ghost shrimp there.

My plan A is still Bullhead Flats, though. I have a gold Toyota 4Runner, and I'll be on channel 69. I'll keep my radio on in my truck whenever I'm in the vicinity.

Plan B is to check conditions at Black Point on the way home.

Plan C is to check Petaluma River at Lakeview.

Right on.  Me and Jelly are gonna hit the road at around 0600.  See you there, and if you move give us a buzz.  Should we buy bait or do you think you pumped enough for the posse?

You might want to pick up another dozen or two. If we do end up in the Petaluma 'chovies might be good, also.
