Had the morning free so I decided to head out on the lake. Launched at camp richardson at 7 in the morning and fished from there to emerald bay. Finished up about 12:30, got a good 9 miles of paddling in. The weather was great in the am, but started to get fairly windy around 10:30-11am. Water was still cold, was 42-43 degrees still. Almost every single fish I saw was hugging the bottom at 600-800 feet, only a few at 150-250 feet, and only saw one suspended at 90 feet. Got totally skunked, but was still nice to get out.

Picture time!

The only catch of the day, I found this guy floating out in the middle of the lake.

Lunch time!

anything that bites really. I wasn't fishing super hard today, just wanted to get out and figure a couple things out, so I mainly took my light gear and just a few pieces of tackle. I tried jigging for some macks I saw in 150 ft of water, but they weren't having anything to do with me today. Plus, I don't know tahoe all that well, its nice having a kayak with a little bit of range on it. probably gonna try hitting cave rock later on in the week if the weather is good.

Great pics - way to get out on the "wintery" water and cover some miles.  Hopefully spring will arrive soon...

So, Jude, let's hear about that "killed it" action!   :smt001

Basically caught about 16 macks by noon, but you need to be able to troll DEEP. Im using handmade lures. The action has been good for a couple days, but I'm sure this rain & end of full moon w/cold front will screw it up. I wouldnt venture out past 2-300 ft. Soon as the water warms to like 48 the browns will be insane. Nice pics you got there, I don't know much about trolling while paddling. Today was an amazingly warm day, very springish. Supposed to be cold again, but with a high of 58 on tues imay try again...

Thanks for the report.  I've caught my biggest Macks in front of the casino in late April early may.

I'm sssooooooooooo jealous,
With scenery like that you almost don't need to put a line in the water.
Looks like a beautiful day on the water - don't worry about the fish - they'll come around soon enough.
Thanks for the post and pic's.

How are you fishing that deep?? I would love to take my son up to get some macks. We fish Eagle Lake in the wind, rain, snow, and ice.

Went out again on fri, same deal but this time jigging. That's what I would recommend to those not rigged. Dr hit me up when you come up for the browns...
