Yup, our boat caught a mahi off lanai and it was only 18lbs dispite being around 48" long.

First harbor seal I saw underwater looked like a bull albino mahi until it came fully out from behind a rock.   :smt005

Too bad you didn't get photos while it was alive, the colors are awesome.  I got a few digitals of the one from my trip (was caught by another group on the 6-pack).  Mostly we caught 1-2lb aku tuna. We seared those little guys steaks that afternoon back at the condo.  It was very dark for tuna and reminded me of super tender rare venison.

Yeah, they are spectacular when just coming out of the water.  Mahi travel in schools, so once you land one everyone's trying to get the lures back in.  No time for pics...

JM-Just busting your balls... From what i have heard about dodo growth rates, I bet those little peanuts are only a few months old...they grow like corn.

Dave-damn nice dodo.  I have never gotten a bull, hope to this year in Baja.  No matter what size they are always super tasty. If you got a length off of it you can still get a mount made anyways.

scwafish I think I am due a few zings. well, live by the sword, die by the sword.  :smt010 :smt003

It's good to know they grow like corn cause they catch 'em like corn too.

the boat I was on hooks one while trolling, they leave it hooked, the school sticks around and
everybody else tosses bait overboard and pulls a few in before the school bolts. It's a party boat
with 30 people so that can be as many as 90 dorado flip-flopping all over the place.
they just leader land them onto the deck, dolfin everywhere.
captain came down saw the carnage and congratulated everybody. Went on to catch skipjack,
blackfin, wahoo and shark while trolling. that was fun.

I recommend a fishing trip to the florida keys for everybody at some point in their lives. Good times.

best,
