Hey everyone, My name is Dan Arbuckle, and I run Headwaters Kayak Shop in Lodi Ca. Over the past few months I have met tons of local kayak fisherman who are trying to get into the sport and find new people to paddle with. Many of them have lots of questions about how to rig their kayak, or where to put in and take out, etc. I have been taking names and numbers of people interested, and What I'm trying to do it connect new kayak fisherman with an active existing kayak fishing community like NCKA. If any of you would be available to come and share information and introduce yourself it would be greatly appreciated. Also if you would like to bring your rigged kayak to share we will have lots of room out front to park yaks and shoot the breeze. Feel free to bring drinks, or a snack. I will have a BBQ going if anyone wants to grill. The get together starts at 5:00PM on Thursday and you are welcome to come early. Our address is 847 N Cluff Ave Lodi Ca 95240. I also have a map on my website. headwaterskayak.com

Thanks guys and I hope some of you can make it out!

Dan, I will soon (by mid May) be moving to Walnut Grove just North East of Lodi.  I would be glad to show two rigged yaks at a future event if you have one in another month or so.  I need to come by your shop anyway as you will be much more convenient than Sacto.  Let me know if this event is repeated.-------Jeff Smith

Very cool, I would be happy to do an event like this more than once. This was sort of last minute notice because I have a good friend coming down to show me his kayak. I just decided to open it up to the group, so other new people like myself can get an good education, and hopefully get a little crew local fisherman that paddle together.

Walnut Grove is my old home town. I just moved from there about a year ago. I spent a lot of time behind Locke paddling and camping. I look forward to meeting with you and fishing the delta together. Come on by once you get settled.

Just got word that Bill Ferrero, professional fishing guide on the Mokelumne river, will be here Thursday night to share his experience. He is not a kayaker yet, but something tells me he would be easily converted once he checks out some fishing rigs.

Wow, just now saw this..............did not know there was a yak shop in Lodi!  bought my Hobie Outback from Sierra Adventure Outfitters in Lodi before they closed.  I also have a Hobie Pro Angler that is rigged with a Humminbird FF mounted on a Mad Frog's Liberator mount and transducer arm that I could bring to the next get together.

Sorry we missed you. We had an electric group tonight at the store. 20 yak fisherman and women in all. We had 5 fully rigged yaks on display and lots of good local knowledge from fishing the Delta, to valley rivers and Mountain lakes. I'm so happy to see such a strong interest in kayak fishing in this area. We are going to start a Yahoo Group to post trips in addition to posting here under the hookups section. Be on the lookout for the Headwaters Kayak Anglers Team.  :smt003

I use to work for Sierra Adventure Outfitters once upon a time. They helped get me into the sport that has become my passion. I owe a lot to Mary and Joe. Come by the store some time and shoot the breeze! And send me your email and I will add you to the Yahoo group list.
