Got the afternoon off, thought I head up for a quick dip.  Went to Gerstle Cove first wanting to try a different place, but the sea god was in a bad mood there; decided not to dive there ($8 down the tube).

Returned to Fort Ross and found the gate closed.  What's up with that??  This made for a long hike to and from shore.

When I got there, a few beautiful Cal lady students were there.  Oh I wish they were divers.  But they were just hanging out at the beach.

There was not a soul in water.  I love having the ocean all to myself, but at the same time I hate that eerie feeling.  Got suited up and got into the water at 1:30 pm.  Visibility was back to a decent 5-7'.  Tried the right side of the trail end for the first time this season; did not see a whole lot of abs at 15' of water.  Quite surprised.  Took my time to hunt for big ones, but the biggest I could find was three 8' ones.  Still a good day.

Was in water for a good 2+ hours.  This is the first time in a long while where I did not had to rush home and could dive until I did not want to dive any more.

Thanks for the report. It's good to hear that the conditions improved.
The gates at Ross were closed because the park is closed during the week because of budget cuts or something like that. I'm not sure, but I think it's only open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

I don't know why they can't just open up the parking lot and let people do self-registration.  They do that at Gerstle Cove.  And the Parks Dept can make a little more money.

I did not take my camera because I was by myself and did not want to leave camera on the shore.  Would not have mattered it turned out.

Enjoy the season folks!!
