cpkayak or scwafish matrix gps receiver

cpkayak or scwafish anyone that has this set up

 could one of u guys help me please i put in the gps receiver for a matrix system in
the right way i thank  also did the self test says unconnected put i see all the gps windows i
did not see gps windows untill i put in the receiver my question is could i have put the ff  2 close 2 the receiver also should i see the gps dignostic view like on page 19 of the manual sometime my hand held has problem  locking up with satellites here in novato this is what i did

I am guessing you just arent getting any coverage.  Mine is way closer, others have been even closer.  It can take up to 5 minutes or so to get a signal and for the maps etc. to start working.

Most GPS work far better if they are outside and have a clear shot at the sky. Also most work faster if they are moving.

Indeed.  I assumed you had tried it outside!

why would i  bring it outside theres no water outside my house 
yes i did bring it outside but did not wait 5 min had it out today look like all is good should i see what on p. 19
also scwafish should i tie the ff off some how because its on a ram mount should i worry
the g.p.s also a wetsuit & a fishing life vest was a b day gift also a nice bonus 2 my waf account
