I hit Sly Park Lake today, aka Jenkinson Lake. Elevation 3400 +/- .
It started out to be beautiful up there. Little snow on the ground and a few clouds.

Paddled out to just beyond the islands and the wind kicked up a little..and then.......

I was trolling a diving plane with a flasher and a watermelon Apex and it started to REALLY come down.

The squall soon passed and it turned out to be a beautiful day.

I had the ENTIRE lake to myself. Unfortunately the trout and mack's were nowhere to be found, but it was one of the most awesome days of paddling I have ever had. I was hoping it would snow, so I was prepared. Hope I can get in one more snow paddle before the season ends. I just hope the fish are more cooperative next time.

Great post!  :smt005

I was just going to post my own eskimo experiment, nanook of the north style, because I paddled around lexington
in the wind and rain, but it doesn't come close to your story.  I trolled a 1/2 nitecrawler behind a
gold seps sidekick dodger and 1.5oz trolling weight up to the end of the lake to see the crappie territory.
at that point I was short on time tho so I imagined myself catching a load of crappie
and then fast trolled a 3" big hammer swimbait home.  as usual for
me @ lexington, no fish.  :smt010. But my eskimo experiment was largely successful, I was warm except
for my feet. I only have 3mm surf booties, maybe I need some 7mm dive booties or something.

For the hands, I tried some NRS mambas, these mitten things that go over your paddle shaft.
they were great. kind of expensive
@ around $35 but warm hands are priceless, so there you go. I could use something better for my feet tho.
I had a wetsuit plus rain pants and paddle pullover, fairly toasty.

Awesome!  Fish or no fish, it doesn't get any better than that.
