I will be in Cayucos for Easter break and was considering taking my kayak. Anyone know of a good area to fish there? Unfortunately I know rockfish does not open until May 1? Soo..what are the other options? What is good this time of year there and where? Where to launch? I know of inside the bay at Morro Bay.. any halibut this time of year. If all else fails I will fish BSP's in the surf! Thanks for any insider info you may have.

I'm sure you'll get some better info from someone with experience, but looks to me like there might be some halibut waters right off the beach and a little north of town.  There is a turnout and some parking north of town that looks like a decent launch if the swells are down.  Farther north in Cambria there's a good launch at Leffinwell.

There's a yak fishing club down there in cayucos area. I forget the name, but try Googling it. I'm sure they can give u some local advice.

There are halibuts in Morro Bay, and along the Cayucos coast. For Morro Bay, you can launch from the public boat launch at the end of Embarcadero. You can pick up frozen bait at Virg's Sportfishing, and maybe even live bait at the boat next to it.

For the Cayucos coast, you can launch on the north side of the pier, next to the parking lot.

Thanks for the tips. I will take the yak and give it a try. Who knows I may even catch a fish. At least I know the scenery will be nice!
