my brothers from the north.  how is the water up there.  the swell looks like it is going to be down starting sunday and my cousin wants to pop his dive cherry.  we were thinking about the fort ross area.  any info is greatly appreciated and anyone who wants to join, the more the merrier.  thanks

Fort Ross is pretty much a safe bet. If you see a wave breaking into the cove, don't do it. Be safe.

Vis can be a crap shoot up there man, its generally milky and will vary in different parts of the cove. Its not a bad trip during ab season cause you can always score a limit and come home with something but spearing only might make it a 3 hour drive for crap vis and only a couple fish.  You might be better off hitting monterrey or carmel, same fish better vis and not 3 hours away.....better dive for a cherry popper.

 Ft. ross cove is a good place to take a new guy.It is very protected from the northwest swell. Let me know if you want more detailed logistics.

Go south!  Carmel area in winter is way better.  you can't get any abs now anyhow - so go south.
