Got to the launch around 7ish, decided there was no hurry to get to LJ too early, with the extreme cold SD weather lately. The Luanch was still jacked up.

Met up with Norcal kayak fisherman Chuck E. on the water.  He jokingly said he brought the Norcal cold weather with him.  Good meeting, and fishing with you Chuck.  Sorry the fish weren't cooperating!

It was a little chilly with an offshore wind, that nicely took me out to horshoe area.  Bait was scare, so much so, I had accepted a greenie from Chuck, who had made some earlier.  Water was green, with up to 20 ft vis. Looked like chovies were being pushed up, birds would tighten up, only to disperse, it just wasnt happening.

Got a small sandy off a FT that was almost as big as it.  One of my macks was raked... But very, very slow.  The wind settled, and turned into a nice day.

Landed to minimal surf...

Here is the Great White Sighting!!

....someone please remind brother chuck that there is no sturgeon in La Jolla   :smt002

You guys down South are pretty spoiled.....shorts, t-shirts,calm water, easy beach launch.....bikinis prancing  :white along  the warm sandy beach. I heard from Chuck that you guys are even allowed to drive on the beach to pick-up and drop off your kayaks - geezzz - what next, Valet parking  :smt003

Since Salmon season maybe a bust at Norcal this year, I may try Socal fishing for a change  :smt004 I'll finally get a chance to wear my speedos  :headbang:

those so cal dudes think anybody that lives within 2 or 3 hundred miles of SF is a flaming queer. not that there's
anything wrong with either of those situations, but I do think that to make them happy, all nor-call folks should
bust out the speedos for their so-call fishing sessions,  :smt005.

mooch can go first!

I spent a significant portion of my youth on a swim team and know how to wear a speedo,
now I just have to get a new one and I'm ready for la jolla! team speedo!

Eh, I went on a trip down there and fished 3 days in a row.  For 7 person-days we caught 1 short barracuda and 1 dogfish.  Water was nice, bait was everywhere, but there wasn't squat to catch with it.  There were alot of kayaks, powerboats and partyboats out, but they weren't catching either.  I did see someone hookup with a thresher long enough for it to jump and break his line...  The fishing pressure was very intense, there were 20-30 kayaks, a comparable number of powerboats, and several partyboats out there each day.

Weather was nice, but the fishing seems to be much better up here, or at least more reliable.  I can't imagine fishing a kelp bed for 7 days and only catching 2 fish.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.
