It was a slow day for dinos but a productive day for leopards.  ChuckE caught at least 10, JTF.. caught 3 and BobNeil caught a few, but more impressive was the two big daddy leopards he hooked into.  I would estimate one at 42 to 44 inches and the other at somewhere between 4 and 5 feet long.  Big enough to test his anchor release.  Chuck also tested his yesterday when he set the hook on something big and it started dragging him and his anchor towards the bay bridge.  Next thing we see is chuck with a bat ray in his lap.  Chuck, your crazy for pulling that thing in with you.  "Aint nothing like bat ray love" eh chuck? :smt005  Beautiful day on the bay, almost eerie calm on  the water.  I kept thinking, am I really out here in the middle of the bay, this water is too calm.  Might go out to bay farm in a couple hours for some nearshore yak action at a hole I found yesterday.  JTF..

The Leopard King!

I was gonna shoot a pic of the batray being released but then I saw the sears tower and thought it would make a good reference point for anyone who wanted to try to line up in this spot. :smt005

Good report, JTF.  Leopards galore and that one batray got me all excited.  I thought it was the real deal at first.  I saw two delicate pumps and when I set the hook I felt something heavy and quite different from a shark.  Unfortunately, it was just a mud marlin. :smt012
It all didn't matter, since it was such a gorgeous day on the bay.  If I just had more time, I felt like I could have easily paddled across to Oyster Point on the pennisula.

went out yesterday at 2:00pm, saw 3 jumpers close to shore, no bites on ghost shrimp at all!!!  Going back out today at 200 again.  The sturgeon are holding up in the hole south of the channel marker closest to the ferry launch.  If you go, you need a long anchor rope.  I didn't mark any fish except at 23 to 30 feet during low tide.  I had one fish show up on my fish finder near the surface as I was peddaling a zigzag course and then break surface 10' from my kayak.  That was at the very beginning of the income at about 430pm.  I fished until 545 and headed in with 10 untouched ghosties.  JTF..

Gotta love those diehard sturgeon fishermen who aren't phased at all by repeated skunks!  :smt002
