I'm with you Jed. The way they have the front handle is a bitch. The drain plug sticks up and cuts the hell out of my hand. I ended up adding some line to the handle so there is more knuckle clearance. I also like the mid boat flushmounts. I know they are in the way to use when paddling but they are nice when rigging and leadering a fish. The live well is nice as well. I would hope that its the same size as the plano box so you can use it as storage.

Do some of the Ocean Kayak dealers here know if the builders of Ocean Kayak take in any input from some of the kayak fishing community for considerations for their future fishing kayak models?  I think the middle hatch shouldn't even be a compartment but open like the Trident angler series for I'm still confused about the this is where you will also get access to the optional rod tube, the rod tube goes back under the seat all the way to the stern, will take a couple of eight foot rods. stated.

I think the tubes are kinda like the ones on the hobie pro angler. A tube from under the seat back to the stern. I like the idea so you don't have to worry about eyes getting hung up and/or broken. Maybe a rear wall in the rod pod area would be OK. But having it be open to the front is great for storage. I also like the wear strip. One on the bow area would be nice as well.

I was checking out the Ultra 4.7 at MBK today. They just got them in and they look really nice. A lot of places to rig stuff and very roomy. I like the trident model for the rod stowage, but not sure i would store my rods in there very often. I don't do many kamikaze beach landings. I might test this ultra one day. Rudder is standard option and should be when your talking $1600.

Got mine and love it, very nice yak on the base of the prowler 15. They just changed the upper half. It also uses a special transducer different than any used by OK.paddles great and has a lot of accessories you can add.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

OMG its heavy!!  I had the chance to check it out last weekend at MBK.  If I were in market for one, I'd pass because of its weight.
I do wish OK would use the same handles in their next generation models.

I saw one of these in person at the cal expo show. hull looks identrical to a T 15, and those handles look nice.

Though that lack of a rod pod is inconvient. The lack of a sonar shield is inconvient. The tank well is farther back. even as a strapping young man 77 lbs is more than i want to lift up to my roof rack. than ice chest thing is too a good ideal, but too much weight/too far back to reach.

IMO im sticking with my T 15, and just keeping the cut rubber gasket around the hatches.
