About 3 years ago, I won an Okuma 7' Baidarka kayak rod in the Elk Tourney with the third-place ling.  Nice rod, though I don't know much about rods.  Last fall, I was stowing it (the swell had come up in Capitola, not much, and I probably didn't even need to stow) and broke off the top 6 inches.
I stalled around, finally called Okuma, told them the above, and after being on hold for about 2 mins, they said send the tip, cut out the model number section and send $15 to them and they'd replace it.  It hurt to cut the rod in half, but honestly, it would probably just have gathered dust.  Proof that I know nothing about rods is that I "replaced " it with a 27 buck 7 ft rod from Wal Mart (and landed a 45" WSB on it the next time out, though the tip guide rotated 90 degrees). Sent the Baidarka to them a couple of weeks ago, and expected them to send me a coupon to get a replacement at the local fishing store.  But today, a 7 foot tube arrived with a brand new rod inside!

That being said, I wish I didn't have to know how good their warranty is ... http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,27422.msg293132.html#msg293132

That's good to hear Tom. I also have had a great experience with them honoring the warranty and continue to enjoy my 7' Baidarka plus a couple of other Okuma non-kayak model rods I bought.  jim
