Launched out of Buck's just after 9:00AM with Mickfish, Gotbaitgofishing, and Big Dog. Paddled out to "the spot" against the wind and 2' wind waves. We fished a variety of baits (mostly ghostshrimp) for a few small "incidentals" and no sturgee love. I got skunked and the fellas caught some dink stripers and a flounder or two. It was tough conditions out there, with the wind pushing us so that we were taking ever increasing wind waves over the sides of our yaks. Big Dog and Gotbait took off before Mickfish and I. Around 1:00PM or so the wind started picking up and I took two big waves over the stern of my yak. A little worried, I looked up and was glad to see Mickfish pulling anchor. We both had a leisurely paddle back, riding the windwaves was pretty fun.

We met up with Troy (Gotbait) near the landing and he was making attempts to find the channel. Just after I got done telling Mickfish how I almost got stuck once in Bodega Harbor we realized that we were paddling in about 10" of water. We made a mad dash for the channel, but ended up bottoming out just yards from the promise land. Luckily the tide was coming in pretty fast and it was just a half hour or so wait for sufficient water to save our @sses.

Definite learning experience!  :smt011

Glad you guys all got back in one piece.  Can get pretty nasty out there.

When heading back to the creek channel at low tide, you have to make more of a southerly tack so you don't get stuck in the mud.  Basically make a line from "the honey hole" to the southernmost duck blind and continue toward shore that way.  It's  a little deeper to the south... just deep enough to skid into the channel.   Can be nerve wracking though, particularly if sunlight is fading fast (been there done that).

Thanks to Troy and Dustin for waiting for my big F N Dive to get unstuck. Paddling through mudd is quite a workout.
When I got home my back was sore but still had a smile on my face.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
