Let me be the first of many to tell you...
"welcome to the madness"

Lately someone has been representing at the port every week.  We tend to follow the fish, but this time of year, you can't beat the port for flat water and of course the striper run doesn't hurt.  When the rivers settle down, we'll hit them too, but the port is a good go-to spot for a lot of the sac area crew all year long because it has good (free) access and lots of target species.

Hope to see you OTW

I pick up catfish all the time drifting the pilings for crappie. They slam the minnows! One of the benefits of using them instead of a jig or crankbait. You'll see......

Thats awesome. Maybe I'll see you guys out there some day then. You will know me when you see me in the little  Orange Emotion Glide with outriggers, Kind of goofy looking but I can stand up or sit on the stern to stretch my legs. Good info on the minnows. Ive never used them but hear great things. I'll have to give them a try when I get out there

I might go out in the morning. I have a broken back minnow in  a tree not too far up from the water I want back.

A few weeks back Striper Slayer caught a catfish that had picked up both jumbo minnows he was drifting. Damn thing was greedy.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

I'm still trying to figure out how to set the new yak up. Not even thought about fishing equip yet. I'll be the guy in the morning watching everyone else catch fish while I try to rig all my poles etc. See you in the AM.

hey K5clover, after looking at your yak setup, i would think twice about strapping and bringing such a big tackle box in the front of your yak. Im sure u have a lot of gear in there but all thats not really neccessary right now. Minnows are gonna be the way to go right now as the water is really cold and the fish aint gonna be to active. you may catch a few fish on spoon or jig and/or on a few swimbaits, but all that above tackle that i mention could easily fit in one medium size plano box. Plus, give yourself some room to lay that big O' Hawg striper onto just in case you hook one!

Thanks for the info. I have a small plano box inside. I was just seeing how much crap I could actually load up on this thing. I dont really have alot of gear for striper anyway and my tackle is kind of light. So if I get a monster on the business end its gonna take a while to land it. I know how to rig for crappie and the minnows I just dont know what size hooks to use. I havent been fishing in  along time. Its like riding a bike.. right? haha

aieght -  glad to hear Ricci is making it out - haven't seen you in a while bro.  Anyway, my night got sidetracked with roasted dungeness with orange herb butter sauce and a beet soup with creme fraiche - I'm hoping to be OTW by 8:00 with a couple dozen minnows I picked up today for me, Amir, BigGabe and Novo, but if I'm a little late, you'll understand.
