Mike and I plan to go out Sturgeons/Stripers fishing in San Pablo Bay on Sunday 1/29. We will meet at China camp parking lot around 8:30AM - 9AM. we will start fishing around Rat rock or Duckblinds and then paddle out north towards honey hole. We fish outgoing tides towards China Camp way back. Think of getting out of water before 3:30PM. Thank Erik for tide tips. Company welcome.

I'll be there but I will be lanching a little later 10:30 or so.

Whew... putting me on the spot!

Generally if the tide is minus in the least bit, it's not do-able.  I'd plan to get out while the tide is still at least plus 0.5 feet or so... that should keep you in the clear.  Check the tide tool on the main page... use Gallinas Creek as your closest tide station.  Looking like 4 or 4:30 would be about as long as you might want to wait to get out.

If you do get mudded out of China camp, you can always get out at the point near Rat Rock and hump your kayak around the shoreline and up to the parking lot.  I've done it before and my cart was useable as soon as I got onto the grass with my yak.

Good luck... looking forward to the report.

Radio will be on 69. Look forward to seeing your folks. I may not able to get out fishing for next 3 weeks due to the upcoming business trip.

I will be there most likely, unless I stay up too late!  Just look for the guy cruising fast with no paddle.  JTF..

You guys definitely want to be careful of the mud at China Camp.  Brent (Pondsurf) and I got in trouble there last night.  Exhausting and messy!  I should have paid more attention to previous posts. We both picked up a shaker each right at the golden hour of the outgoing, beginning 2 hours before the bottom of the tide. Our hookups came within 20 minutes of each other.  We were fishing 2.6 miles out from China camp, toward the pilings.  Caught them both on pumped ghost shrimp (THANKS FOR THE LESSON MIKE!) and Columbia River eel.  My first sturgeon!

Great Job Max... those tide fish seem to come through there just like clockwork don't they.  Were you out in that area that we fished last time I saw you... closer to the pilings?

Yes, very close to that spot but not right on it.  Though I marked the drop off when the 3 of us fished there, I couldn't find that channel after trying to go back to it.  We fished about 200 yards West of there.  No distinguishing structure on the FF.
