Nice! Where was the placement shot? How far did you have to track it? I bet theres nothing greater than hunting with your pops! Thanks KZ!

Well... it wasn't my best shooting for a number of reasons, but I shot him a bit too far forward to drop him initially (quartering toward me, through the brisket and opposite shoulder), but he didn't go far before he sat down.  Followed the blood trail maybe 20 yards and saw him sitting down looking the other direction, then put one in the neck to finish the job.

You know... my Dad has been hunting for something like 55 years now, and hunting was a big part of my upbringing.  Now that my Dad is 70 years old, I realized that I won't have very many years to really enjoy being in the field with him on trips like this.  He's in good shape and gets around very well... just stopped climbing up into some of the more sketchy pine trees we like to hunt out of in the last couple of years.  I'm very grateful that we have a great place to hunt and the means to make the trip once a year... I just need to make the time for it.  Good times!

EK, just got around to looking at your post... cool! It does sound gorgeous, dragging your kill/harvest through an incredible environment.
My dad's not hunting anymore, eyes aren't what they used to be. He's got the memories though.
Lets go hunting.
