I can see this being very useful in the event you need to be found/rescued by helicopter, but not sure if it would help any vessels find you in the event of an emergency.

Here's a similar device used by scuba divers. IMO: something good to have if you ever find your self separated from your kayak. It's small, compact and visible.

I think even a boater can spot that sausage once you start waving it around....well maybe not as visible in high seas. IMO, better than the rescue streamer.
