I saw about five Kayaks out there yesterday afternoon.  Any information about the crabbing at Linda Mar?  I was thinking about trying my luck and I am a rookie, so it would be nice to go with someone who knew what they were doing.

Thanks!

Never done it, but I'm down.  Just waiting to see something in the Hookups section.  I've heard its all about how big the surf is over there as its a surf launch.  Supposed to be a good spot though.

Been wondering about the same thing. HMB is becoming too crowded now.
Going Fishing?
Winds from the south, hook in

Wind from the east, bite the least.
Wind from the north, further off.
Wind from the west, bite the

The forecast look doable but dont be deceived this is the area where I was first humbled..if you decided to go please go all the way to the left (if your facing the ocean).. less surf and surfer...good luck if I have a yak I would join you...be safe its thanksgiving dont spend the day on the hospital...

I grew up in Linda Mar and have crabbed/fished it for years launch south of the creek I set my crab traps west of the gate on the cliff. If you set your traps south of Taco Bell you will get a large amount of rock crabs and if you set it north of it, you get more dongenous. The swell can come up fast and when the wind and swell starts to come up pull the traps and get out of there. I made the mistake of not two years ago and pulled my traps in 10 foot swells the next day, becuase I had to head back down and didn't want to loos my traps.

Taylor31,
When you're up to give it a try again, just post a hookup and I'll join you.
It's good to go with someone who know the area.
Till then.

I'll be up tonight. If the water is good I'll drop a pot or two this week/weekend. The beach is less then a mile from my parents house.

Saw some kayakers out this morning (locals) surf in on shoulder high waves. One guy flipped as he hit the beach, the other guy bailed and walked in hanging on to his kayak.  They said that they get limits every day.  They leave traps out and re-bait (Don't know who they were).  Launch looked way too rough for me even on the calm side by the houses.  Still waiting for my first attempt at crabbing with all gear ready ( I hope).

Not this time, Taylor31, as we are already set to go tonight with Bink and other Nckaers to HMB. Next time you go, I'll be up for it.
Good luck and hoping you get the limits for your Thanksgiving crab feast that the whole family/relatives can enjoy.

Drove by there yesterday - late afternoon. Saw Mike (a local) come in with his scupper pro. He got a few dungies despite the cold conditions. Heard the commies have been dropping their pots just outside of the cove.

Taylor 31,

Let me know when you go out again. My sister lives right across from Linda Mar and I keep all my kayak stuff there, so can be ready to go in a flash.

Thanks

Be safe and pick your day. Surf launching (and landing) a kayak with a crab trap(s) can be very tricky....
