Took a tip form some of the super nice folks over at www.catfished.com and tried a new spot at Clearlake.  Franz from CFE
showed me and Jelly a super sweet little hand launch right by the spot.  We paddled a whole 200 yds and we were there!  So were a lot of other guys!!

We drifted two rods ea.  One with jumbos on the bottom for bass, and one suspended with dinky minnows on jig heads.  After a little bit Jelly's jumbo rod went off.  A nice little bass...

A little while later, my crappie rig went off.  This fish felt pretty frisky. When I got it to color i could see it was a nice fat crappie...a "slab".  This guy went a little over 2 pounds on the scale...

Meanwhile the guys in the "spot" were killing them...one after another. The crappie thing is weird.  There seems to be one spot say like 10' feet square, and its were 98% of the action is...weird.  There can be a zillion other peir pilings etc, but they are all crowded into one tiny area.  Our new friend Franz showed up in his aluminum and he muscled his way into the spot.  He immediately bags a few nice crappie, including one that was 3 pounds. Nice panfish!!!

We hooked a few more fish including some more bass and some good size bluegills.  This one was 14" and about 2 pounds...

Still got more work to do to figure this out, but what the heck, there's nothing else going on!  I forgot my anchor again.  If you go to do this an anchor is a must!
