Yeah, we were in contract on one home for three months and after everything finally was approved I had the inspection done and the inspector found some dry rot under the master tub and some issues with the roof. Now I've found pretty much my dream place and we've been waiting to hear back from the bank for four months...and what's worse is now the seller's realtor is MIA, not returning E-mails or calls.

So I'm starting back at square one. Gonna look at a new batch of houses....starting tomorrow!

As crummy as all that is, I'd rather be on your end than mine.  I'd give anything to be buying instead of selling.  Good luck Dustin and stay positive!

Great thread.  I'll share what a wise man told me.  "Buy the worst house on the best street.  You can fix a house, but never the neighborhood."  This guy bought a little bungalow in Willow Glen in the early 90's.  Turned out to be a great move after this thing called the "internet" caught on.

Dustin!  Man, that blows, but it could turn out to be the best thing that could have happened.

I was sick to death about missing the 8k tax credit, and several other houses that seemed perfect, giving up several times, even considered living in a van, before the perfect situation presented itself.  There have been a lot more houses come up for sale within the past month.

Thanks for the well wishes, and yes, you all are invited to the BBQ when get settled.

Good news on my front as well. Seems there was a breakdown in communication between realtors....took a good old fashioned phone call to get things straight, but found out today that they just got short sale approval from the 1st bank and expect to get approval from the second (same bank) by the end of next week.

Lookin' to close before the end of next month!

Congrats Dustin!  Hope everything proceeds as planned.

As for us, not so much.  We're actually considering "strategic foreclosure."
