Hi All,

Got on the water 8:30 am.  Had 3 fish by 10:30 am.  All Trout 15" to 16" on rainbow power bait in 28 to 30 ft of water.  They planted  today around noon.  I think it was 500 lbs.  Stayed until 2 pm.  Messed up on the first hit and the last hit.  Still, I had some fish to smoke.

Those Trout look like they've been well fed.  Thanks for the report and pictures Ken.

plumpers..WTG. I went once when they stocked freshwater, the trout were all over. we used brown power bait molded into little balls, the fish were all over it. I guess cause it looked so much like hatchery food. How do those taste smoked? I've always found fish fresh from the hatchery to have an unpleasent taste.

Nice work, Ken.  I predict a Quarry Lakes Electric Boat post by RayMac soon - you guys often seem to be on parallel fishing schedules.   :smt003

Thanks Guys,

I know Ray and have fish at Quarry with him.  But, every since they went to the boat inspections I like Shadow a lot better.  Last time I went to Quarry I parked near the lake and cleaned my Yak.  Wiping and drying it for like 15 mins and I still got some words by the supervisor there about how wet my Yak was.  He let me on.  But, was taking about airing out my Yak the day before I show up.

But, every one knows that a plastic yak will have condensation on the drive over in the morning and too please him.  I would have to buy a potable generator and a massive hair dryer.

Shadow is small than Quarry.  But, unlike Quarry the shore guys can not access the whole shoreline.  So, even though it is smaller.  It seem bigger to someone that can get out on the water.

Also, I got a yearly parking pass.  If you live in the county it is $50 per year.  I am out of county so it runs $65.  But, it cost me $7 every time I fish there.  Fishing permit is $5 and the car top launch is $2.

Normally, you pay $5 parking, $5 fishing permit and car top launch $2.  So, you pay $12 every time you go there.  With the parking permit you can fish other lakes like Del Valle, Chabot, Quarry and a few others.

You can also buy a yearly fishing permit.  How cold is the water at Shadow Cliff's.  Was thinking of going today as I live a couple blocks from it up the hill, but went and visited mom in the resthome like a good son.  :)

Only problem is it is $255 per person a year. If you are a Senior, Disable or a Full Time Student it is $120.  A Non_Residents is $350 (All Categories).  I fish for trout a lot.  But, not that much.
