What's a good Lady's Load for that 870?  I used to have an 870 12 guage and my girlfriend at the time would complain about the kick.  Step down to 20 or 410?

20 guage is a good all around for both you and her. She, more then likely, won't shoot it that much and you could use it for dove ,Quail & Phesant. I love my 410. but it is a little more limited.

My offer still stands Mooch. And it would be a good idea to do a gun get together.

Thanks Kevin! I think it would be a good idea to make a weekend/camping trip out of it. And of course have access to an outdoor range (near camp) that will let us shoot whatever we have on hand. I'm all ears for suggestions for both locations - for camping and shooting.

We could do a trip up to the higher sierra lakes before we get any bad weather. Caples, Silver, etc.  Trout are going to be good for a month or so till season ends. We can shoot just about anywhere in the National Forest areas away from people of course.

Win. Mod. 12 pump was my childhood shotgun.
It had a cushy pad on it - kick was nothing for my then skinny frame.
You gotta kind of lean into the butt stock a little and pull it firm to your shoulder.

Oh, and one thing he mentioned was that most ranges wont let you fire the short barrel shotguns if they are indoor.  Anyone know the rules at these places, like target masters?

Last time I frequented Targetmasters shotguns were ok, just no birdshot...  I think maybe it was slugs only?  I don't recall anything about barrel lenght being a factor.
