I've got a flexible schedule on Monday and around 10:00 I'm thinking of hitting the concrete ship in Aptos (or just North/West of it) and trying again for the lovely BSP.   I'll only spend a few hours (perhaps 2 or 3) in the surf but I'd love company.  Those of you with flexible schedules should come on out.

Molbasser, if you're interested I can carpool and have a parks parking permit so it don't cost a thing.

I'm thinking I'll have to push it back to noon...  I have a stupid DMV appointment to renew my license.  *grumble*

Just let me know what times work for you.  The whole day is leading up to a high tide at 5-ish so it's not really optimal for perch...  but hey, I fish when I can not when conditions are best, you know.

I don't see a problem.  Where do you want to meet?

If your mobile number hasn't changed... I'll ring you in the morning around 10:45 and set up a place.  Your house (assuming I find out where it is) is fine.  Else maybe we meet in front of the Safeway at the Aptos freeway exit?

I usually fish down a bit from Seacliff, along Beach Drive and walking towards Hidden Beach from the parking lot at the end of the road.  Would like to hookup with you guys when the call of the elusive BSP beckons.  Out of town this weekend but prime time is near.

Because Chris/Molbasser sadly couldn't make it on the Monday, I decided to try just East/South of the SCruz harbor mouth -- incidentally the exact place where Chris first taught me to fish for perch.  (thanks again Mr. Molbasser!)

Anyway, that was a crappy idea due to the dredging taking place in the harbor mouth.  The water was full of debris and sludge that was dumped offshore.  The beach had dead sea lions on it.  It smelled terrible and no fish around at all.

Then south to Seacliff and still no fish.  But at least the water was clean and the air smelled nice.

Hey Bigred,

I'm going to be in Monterey this weekend so I'm going to hit my favorit spot near the Salinas River. Do you have time to check it out with me?

I'd love to?  When and where?  I assume it's out by Monterey Bay Colony?
