The tubes in the ab floats get punctured especially if you put fish in the float. I put a small slice in the tube and stuffed six 2 liter soda bottles inside the tube. The tube will keep the bottles from moving around. I put the cut on the outside of the tube so the nylon of the float is against the cut. I haven't tested it but I think it will work.

Since water can now intrude the tube... you may want to put a few extra slits in tube.  Otherwise when you're done, the tube will have a fair amount of water in there.  :smt001

I gave up on tubes early on, but interested to see how it turns out for you.  Simple & a bit ghetto, but might be a quick fix to a common problem.  :)

What about just using a bunch of pool noodles?

Someone in here tried pool noodles inside the float tube and it's working fine for him.

Thanks Fuzz. I didn't think about the water intrusion. I use a boogie board when I shore dive but I like to use the float from my yak or Achilles. I seperate them by a couple hundred feet and it gives me coverage over a large area when I need to dump fish or abs.

Yep.
Flat foam 'noodle' on the outside, 2 round noodles on the inside, all zip tied together. Holds it's shape nicely and NEVER looses air.

If you are thinking of the Home Depot expandable thinggy that comes in a can, think again. I tried it and ended up with a guey mess. It needs air to cure, more than the three slits in the tube I did. I am sure there are two part foams out there that will work, but they are pricey
