Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day is fast approaching! Geez, what happened to summer? Anyhow, it is time to start planning for our annual gathering up on the property. We have lots of projects that we can work on, fencing as usual, planting seedlings and seeds, setting up more irrigation systems and more.

I will be headed up the night of the 3rd and staying through the 7th or 8th. Then I have to get home, unpack and the pack up for my kayak fishing trip to Catalina Island.

As always, we have eight bunk beds and many acres for campers and tents. By then the weather should start cooling off. It has been constantly in the upper 80s most of the summer.

Besides working on projects, we will doing some target practicing, hiking, hanging around the campfire, eating too much, drinking just enough and passing the time with friends. The bite is usually on pretty good at Eagle Lake. If enough people, especially kids, are going to attend, I am thinking about setting out some prizes around the property and getting a geo-cache hunt going.

Check your calendar and see if you can join us. This will be the last group gathering of the year. The rest of the year is going to be real busy for me. We start on the wetland restoration towards the end of Sept. and our fund-raising hunts start at the end of Oct. Some where in there I would also like to get out into the woods myself.
