Has anyone fished the American River latey? I haven't seen any reports and I'm thinking about hitting it tomorrow for a hail mary striper.

Looks like you will be the first to fish it and report.  I'm waiting patiently.

Hey AD - I haven't been on the AR for awhile now.  Ricci (Fishworks916) was out one evening a few weeks back and posted about a few schoolie stripers being taken from the Watt/Howe area.  Should be some steelhead following the salmon in soon.  Good luck.

So I went out today but ultimately just ended up paddling around.Talk about nice day to be out on the water!
We launched at Discovery and paddled up river, the  yacht club had the annual potluck on the beach so there was about 150 boats anchored up and constant boat traffic all the way up past the 160 bridge, the fishing finder produced zero fish even in the deeper holes, and the lower American has been invaded by a hydrilla/watermilfoil type plant. We took a rookie with us today, my buddy brought his 9 month old Rottweiler to get her use to riding on the kayak and now she looks like an old pro. No fish today but life's good any day you can get out on the water.

I had a similar experience on Wednesday night - launched at disco around 6:00 paddled up around the 160 bridge and found some good size fish marking in a hole just below the bridge in 14' of water, but no interest in a little shad swim bait I was throwing around.  Coming back in I hugged the north shore and saw a lot of fish on the FF, but no takers for my troll.  It was getting dark so I was moving pretty quickly.  Like you said, just nice to get out OTW.

good report fellas...ive been kinda going on the yak and on shore up here by home around howe park looking for a striper too but its really hit and miss right now..Best times still seem to be early morning or late late evening. And bait seems to be getting more action as for now! I use sardines but anchovies will do too and live bait if u can catch a pike or lil sqauwfish! But throwing them swimbaits and topwaters will getcha a nice one when one wants to hit! I'm going to be heading out, out of howe park in the middle of the week probably starting 2maro for the last 2 and half hours of the day if anyone wants to join...channel 69 of course! fishworks

I'll be fishing the Howe area tomorrow evening.  I've been catching schoolies here and there.  The bite really turns on after 8.
